An Important Lecture on Self-Love

Okay gather around, I need to tell you about something really important. This is something most of us were never taught when we were in high school and our parents never really taught us the importance of this. As we grow up, we have to figure things out ourselves and the importance of Self-Love is one of those things. Today I am going to tell you all about it in our little imaginary classroom.

Thank you for joining, leave the door open for the late-comers. Listen, you have probably never thought of the need for you to completely love yourself because growing up all we wanted was love from someone else. We wanted to be loved – by our friends, by our parents and by the opposite gender. We crave the love, we would do whatever it takes to be loved but we had no idea that loving ourselves is the only kind of love we really need to survive.

See, this love is important because it helps you see worth in your life, it helps you understand that you are just as important as everybody else and your life has purpose. Maybe if we were taught about self-love we wouldn’t have so many suicide deaths. Maybe if we were taught about self-love we wouldn’t have so many broken hearts.

Self-love isn’t trying to be the centre of attention in a crowd because ‘you are important’, it’s not about wanting everyone to look at you when you walk in and it is definitely not about forcing people to see what you see in yourself. It does not have to be all up in our faces, it requires minimal effort.

You want to know why you should walk into a relationship with major self-love? Your heart is less vulnerable and you move on quickly because you know what you are worth and you know you do not deserve to be sad because of one person who couldn’t love you. With self-love, you won’t need love or approval from friends neither, you won’t have to do all the “cool” things to be in their circle because you would know what’s best for you.

Go ahead, compliment yourself every day. Your big nose or big forehead that everybody mocks you about, you gotta love the sh*t out if because it’s yours and nobody can make you hate a thing about yourself just because they hate it. Don’t just sit there and dwell on what others are doing with their lives. What did I tell you on the post Celebrate Yourself? “No one on social media has a horrible life simply because people post what they want us to see and not how things really are”. Okay? Okay.

So, tell me, whose love do you need when you have got endless love for your own damn self? Don’t think about it, the answer is quite simple – Nobody’s. Take note of all your good traits, spend plenty of time alone, do what you love, forget about social media for days, take a walk, go for a run, treat yourself… Do anything and everything that would please your soul.

Now repeat after me, “I am worth so much and nobody can make me feel bad about myself. I will take care of my mind, I will control my thoughts. I will take care of my body and I will take care of my heart. No words coming from anyone can hurt me or change the way I see myself. My life is perfect just the way it is and I love and appreciate myself,”

Good. Remind yourself this every time especially on days when you are feeling worthless. Spread the word and preach self-love to your friends, family, lover, children and parents too.

Okay, the class is over. You’re dismissed, have a great day.

  1. This is a beautiful and inspiring post. It’s also very significant in our present times. Too many people try to change themselves, try to be “in” and “hip” and in the end lose themselves. Sometimes we need to be selfish in order to appreciate ourselves and eventually become our best selves we could be for other people. Thank you for sharing this. ❤

  2. Another good post.
The world would be a better place if more people love themselves.
I agree some things you won’t learn in a classroom or at home but rather on your own.
Learning on your own is the best way in my opinion becuase it’s the hard way.
The hard way is the best way.
    I appreciate the motivation.
    Keep it up
