Human Life Lost in Waiting

August 28, 2017 in Articles, Motivational - 3 min read

How much time do we spend just… waiting? We spend so much time waiting for the rain to stop so we can go out to the grocery store, we wait for summer to go out and have fun and we wait for our soulmates to finally come into our lives. Reality is, we are all unconsciously waiting for something to happen.

Some people spend minutes and hours at the bus stop, scrolling on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram just to see what the rest of the world is doing while they just wait for the bus to come. It definitely seems and feels right, as a way of ignoring the fact that they are waiting for the bus, right? But let us turn this whole thing around now, at every little moment we find ourselves waiting, let us do something great or productive.

We moan and groan about having a ‘summer body’ but wait until the very last month before summer to actually start exercising. Don’t wait – do easy exercises throughout the entire year if you’re are a busy or lazy person, instead of putting so much pressure on yourself in one month and not feeling good when you don’t meet your expectations when summer finally comes.

It is a natural habit for students to leave things for the last minute and we back it up by saying, “Oh, I work so much better under pressure”. The only thing we are good at when we are doing assignments on the very last minute is typing incredibly fast (nothing that actually makes any sense and nothing that could give us a good mark). Why wait though? Do a little research every day and put everything together the day before due-date if you are so good at “working under pressure”.

Instead of waiting to graduate to finally start a business, do what you can with what you have. Watch YouTube videos, learn how to do things yourself, read books concerning your future business and build connections with the right people so that by the time you have your diploma/degree you just have to set a date for your launch.

Keep yourself busy at all times by doing minor productive things. Don’t be so busy watching what people are busy with, focus on you! Start now, whatever it is that you are thinking right now, just do it and if you don’t know how, seek help. Don’t wait for great things to miraculously happen in your life, work towards receiving great things and you will appreciate them more when they come.

Great post. For me, sometimes being productive means doing things that make me happy – which sometimes is scrolling through instagram! Everything in moderation.

Scrolling through Instagram makes you happy? Haha. It depresses me most of the time, I’m only ever on Insta when I’m super bored 😄

Great words about acting now rather than waiting for the “perfect” moment that never comes!

I loved reading this. I can really relate because I am such a procrastinator and always manage to find some excuse to wait. I will say – when I do this, then I will do that. Really, I am just allowing time to go by.
I once read that humans value what is expensive. The most expensive things are actually the cheapest – therefore taken for granted the most. One of those things is time. It is so precious but as it is free, we do not value it. It is such food for thought and really something to improve on. Thank you for this post girl. xx

I love this comment.. I’d say that in developed countries this is also true for our health, it’s something we’re given for free but it’s often abused and taken advantage of (sorry I’m a huge public health nerd)

That is such a valid point! People do take their health for granted. I understand that we all have our own choices to make.
But I have friends who eat whatever and don’t exercise and they just say..well I can eat healthier later or life is too short to worry.
We are actually so lucky that we are educated and have knowledge on nutrition and the option of taking care of ourselves.

You have just raised such an important point – humans value what is expensive, we do not value time because it is absolutely free. Hmm 🤗! Yes! Thank you too dear ❤
