If there’s one thing people tend to be oblivious of, it has to be the fact that our minds have so much control of everything that happens in our personal lives – the past, the future and this present day itself. How we choose to see and think of things is how they turn out to be.
Let’s not think about it too deep, stay on the surface with me… now think about this: why does coffee give you the energy you need to kickstart the day? Why do painkillers heal your headache? Why does you day get worse by the minute when one little inconvenience happens in the morning? It’s all in what we believe. When something bad happens in the morning, you get annoyed, you unintentionally curse the day and start believing it’s going to be a bad one hence why everything goes south after that.
Coffee has caffeine and caffeine supposedly gives you energy and all the adrenalin you need but is that necessarily true? No. I will use myself as an example for this case, coffee makes me sleepy all the time and I drank it quite often in high school during winter hoping it would keep me warm and help me fall asleep and it did exactly that, meanwhile I didn’t actually know that it’s supposed to give me energy. Up to this day, I do not drink coffee unless it’s with intentions to fall asleep almost instantly.
This thing of ‘believing’ applies to all things big and small. If you are religious and you get the job you have been praying for, who is the first person you turn to? God, you thank them for listening to you and answering your prayer. Reason being, you believe it’s them therefore it really is them. If you aren’t religious though and you also get your dream job, you will be thankful to whatever you believe helped you get it; whether it’s your cousin who helped you prepare for the interview with tips and tricks on acing it or whether it’s your hard work on putting together an impressive portfolio – whatever you believe helped you get it is the exact reason why you got it.
Your mind already knows and it also knows that you know it knows. You don’t even have to say anything out loud and you don’t have to recite a particular affirmation over and over again in your head for it to happen or for it to be real. You standing in front of the mirror and telling yourself that you are beautiful and/or you are going to have a good day won’t have much of an effect if you do not believe it. If you have to convince yourself that you look beautiful or that you are going to have a good day, it’s not real and it’s not going to happen. The mere fact that you are thinking about it like emphasizes that your mind is doubtful and believes otherwise.
Many people tend to give up believing, hoping and being positive because they do not genuinely believe in what they say, they are only doing it because it’s been said once too many times that when you believe, everything will work out. But verbalizing what you want does not necessarily mean that is what will happen. Believing is manifesting. What you really believe in is what you keep visualizing in your head, if you keep ‘seeing’ yourself enjoying your upcoming vacation or standing on the podium to receiving your degree certificate then that is what will most likely happen too.
Think about people who believe in signs (I am one of them) and those who believe in astrology, everything they read and ‘receive from the universe’ determines their next move because they believe they are being led by Mercury being in retrograde or a simple sign. Believing is also linked to intuition – when you start getting the feeling that something bad is going to happen, it usually happens, right? You start feeling like your partner is cheating on you although there is minimal evident, turns out they are really cheating on you.
What you believe is real, is really real. What you believe in is also what you end up seeing more of (signs, God’s presence…). So, what should you take from this? Check on yourself, especially your thoughts, you could easily block blessings by simply thinking about the worst outcomes of any situations. A thought, a single thought in your mind can and will be crafted into reality without you even noticing. Keep your thoughts as light and positive as you can and start being aware of the power your mind has on making things happen.
That’s it for now,
